The FDA has published a list of products that are being sold that have NOT been approved for use in a pandemic. Their site is http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/h1n1flu/
In times like these, there are always those who will see an opportunity to turn a buck by capitalizing on fear and panic.
They don't say that these products do no good, they just say that they have NOT been approved for use in a pandemic.
The best precautions against becoming infected with H1N1 are the same as avoiding seasonal flu - wash your hand frequently, stay away from people who are coughing and sneezing, get lots of rest, etc. Even though this appears to be a novel virus, the majority of people will NOT become ill.
The "P" word should stand for Prepare, not Panic.
