   Israel will become the first country to shut its borders completely in response to the new variant. The country has also suggested it would use counter-terrorism phone-tracking technology to contain the spread of the Omicron variant.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said in a statement the ban, dependent on government approval, would last 14 days.

	This is very interesting because Israel is a highly vaccinated country, so obviously they are concerned about vaccine efficacy against this, or why else would they shut the borders?
	Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.

	Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't; it all depends on the other measures. Travel bans with test and trace, lockdowns, hygene rules, masks and isolation for the infected is another usefull, sensible action. Travel bans alone can't do any good and therefore there has to be another reason for implementing them.
