Hi All, I also posted this in Medical Prep threads, but I know most people check this thread. I'll copy here as I think this is important info. Hi All, My mom has a condition called Trigimenal Niralgia that is an exposed nerve in her brain. Needless to say, it causes her incredible pain. Her doctor (reluctantly) gave her a 9 month prescription to cover any breakdown in economy or availability and I looked on-line to see about getting the meds without using insurance. First, US meds are outrageous, and second insurance only covers month to month. I found this website and 9 months of her pain meds were only 200.00. It is legit, you fax or email the prescription and they verify with your dr. that they can cover it. PLEASE prep for long-term meds. The though of anybody becoming sick not from the bird-flu but because they didn't have their meds is depressing! This CO. is out of Canada. Maybe our government should look at Canada's method of ensuring their people are healthy and taken care of. Sad we let the pharmacutical companies rip us off here in the US http://www.betterlifepharmacy.com/Default.asp

I tried online from Canada and Australia but they will only allow 3 months due to FDA regulations, which doesn't make any sense to me at all. I guess if I have to, I will go to MX.

If you're thinking of going to TJ, Mexico for meds, it may be wise to get a mexican prescription to avoid getting arrested. see here: http://todaysseniorsnetwork.com/Mexican%20jail.htm i asked a friend of mine about it, he said he could get a mexican prescription for prednisone there easily as he has asthma.

Thanks Marzantar. I know about getting the Mexican prescriptions before you bring them back into the US. The man who went to get his wife's Xanax and ended up getting arrested just broke my heart. I've heard that all you have to do is go to the Farmacia and they will send you to a Dr. to get your written prescriptions. I'm closer to Nogales, but they're all the same. Believe me, going to MX will be my last resort. If I can't get our RX's before TSHTF, then I will probably just wean myself off and who knows, maybe I will even get better after getting off all these meds.

Hi all,
This is my first post. Thanks for this site and all the wonderful people here. I get my meds from Canada (though thanks to the FDA and Customs that is getting more dicey). The scripts are faxed to Winnipeg, leaving the originals in my hands. I then take the originals to a US pharmacy and use them to get a duplicate set of meds. That makes 180 days of meds at a time. Then I go pester my doc for more. It's a shame it has to be this way. So many people are at the mercy of their meds. There ought to be an easy way to get a year's supply at once. I don't relish the thought of standing in line with a bunch of sick, desperate people at a pharmacy, after this thing explodes. |

Hi Redcloud and welcome! I get our RX's from mail order and get a 3 mo supply, which is all our insurance will allow. So, I guess I will do that and get another 3 months from Canada. At least we will have a 6 months supply. I'm just appalled that we are not able to get a years supply, especially when our government knows we could be attacked by terrorists or God knows what and will need to have our meds if the economy goes bad. Not only that, our Drs. refused to give us prescriptions for some of our meds, like Xanax and pain meds. I don't know why they are so paranoid about it. Like I'm going to sell them or something? NOT!! My husband has ostoarthritis and I have Fibromyalgia. I told him maybe we should do like the grandmas and grandpas in Mexico and make up our own home remedy. I don't know what they call it in Mexico but the translation is Marahol. They rub it on and swear it works better than any pain pill you could take.

Have your doctor rewrite the script for a number of pills vs. a time line. I'm not sure that your dr. will participate...but worth a try. I think there is a law about volumn of pills - one of our dr. or nurses on the forum would be good to ask.

http://www.medpagetoday.com/Nephrology/ GeneralNephrology/tb/1997 * It works, to use the words of a friend I suggested it to, here in Canada, "I got my life back". Give it a try. Once the injections take, you may have relief for up to 6-months+. It may take up to 2-monthly injections, before it kicks in. There is an investigational surgical equivlanet as well in the U.S, touted as a permanent fix, you can Google for more info. The science is sound. If you have the money, I'd investigate. This therapy is availabe through neurologists in the U.S. or Canada. They have two forms of botox, if the first one does not work, ask for the other. Efficacy rate is upwards of 75%. It requires a monthly visit to the doc, and for a few minutes your head is turned into a pin-cushion. Not as bad as an actual migraine. If it does not work, at least you'll look as pretty, as the women on Desperate Housewives. Minus facial expressions. |
