Skyrick over at our sister Swine Flu site raised a very good point about the distribution of the world's population that I've never seen mentioned before. At present the death toll in the Southern Hemisphere - halfway through their flu season, and with only 10% of the global population - already rivals what the Northern Hemisphere has seen since the outbreak began in the spring. And this during the first wave - traditionally much milder that the second wave we can expect soon. Given that we have 9 times more people, and many of those people not only live closer together but are much more dependent on technology than in the south, surely this has to play a huge role in the way the virus will affect us in the fall.
