Perhaps many topics may be considered of lesser relevance than what is becoming the storm of century in the U.S.  Most certainly, virtually cut off from iffy health care and with areas lethal to go out in for more than 20 minutes, this is going to affect the spread of the new mutated flu strain.

The headlines have evolved from a continued reassurance the storm would go away.  It is not and tonight parts of the U.S. will be more similar to living in Alaska or the North Pole.

How is this, will this, play out as a new Flu - not the classic 2009 H1N1 is widespread through huge parts of the U.S.?

This certainly was not a hard find and I must say, that CNN and other media is handling this with fairly accurate and non-alarmist or even biased reporting.  A simple statement of the reality that the weather vortex has relocated further south in the U.S. and Canada.

Is this reflected in the rest of the world?

Well, it was snowing in the desert in Cairo.

As the Flu continues to spread - not only in the U.S., but the world - is the storm relevant to being prepared?

It is.

Secure your food supply. Avoid travel and unnecessary trips and SIP.  Drink fluids and learn to take care of yourselves and your families.

The flu is now widespread here in Colorado. It is 8 degrees outside right now. It sure sounds like global warming.

The storm continues and yet in California we have a clear blue sky in the Bay Area.  The weather is so unpredictable.  Will all the dire predictions come true.

 Bitterly cold weather continues to grip the Chicago area today. At noon, a time of day that typically has the mercury on a pronounced climb, readings are close to the lowest levels of the day. Couple that with strong, gusty west winds and wind chills are fluctuating between 40 and 50 below.

comment: The temps are not following the predictions. In Chicago - it is a deep freeze.

It's not over.  Despite glowing predictions of warmer temps the Arctic Vortex continues to bring problems.

(CNN) -- As it continued its northward retreat, the arctic blast still held sway over the upper Midwest, where it bore down with below-zero lows early Thursday.

This should be its last stand in the United States, as temperatures bump up day by day, the National Weather Service said.

Minnesota's coldest spots were forecast to plunge to as low as minus-30 degrees Fahrenheit with a frost-biting wind chill factor near 40 below.

Most of the nation should drop below freezing overnight, according to the NWS.

Over here on the East coast we got some chilly weather. Grandfather Mountain in NC. saw wind chills of minus 103 degrees F. Now that's a bit on the cold side!
