ELKHART COUNTY — The West Nile virus has been found in Elkhart County.

That's according to our reporting partners at the https://www.southbendtribune.com/news/publicsafety/west-nile-virus-confirmed-in-elkhart-county-st-joseph-county/article_bfa90041-ff17-5b4d-9afb-50083623dc1f.html" rel="nofollow - South Bend Tribune .

The Elkhart County Health Department says a mosquito pool tested positive earlier this month.

A spokesperson for the Indiana Department of Health says Elkhart and Carroll counties are the only two in the state that have confirmed the presence of West Nile.

But at this point, there's no indication it has spread to humans.

The virus can make people very sick, even causing muscle paralysis or death.
