Happy Mid-Summer to all of you.

Here in Scandinavia this is a major holiday.  Giving in to the commercial pressure this feast has moved from is actual day to the nearest weekend.    Officially the holiday has started (mid-day on Friday) and the traffic is still streaming out to our island location as everyone makes for summer cottages.   Our area is too dry for bonfires (a traditional occurrence), but many will still roast sausages and drink to the summer, and of course the sauna*    It is hot and fine so the coastal rescue services are dreading the effect of alcohol and trying to swim.

* A good sauna should be hot enough to kill most bugs (over 70C), but as I get older I don't want it too hot (80C is still OK with me, but the wife finds that too hot for her)

Fairly major celebration for us Pagans; The time when there is the greatest light in our bit of the world.

We usually celebrate on the nearest weekend after the day.  Patience is a virtue.

Happy solstice to you all!

And it's mid winter here. Today had slightly longer daylight hours than yesterday. The world has turned and we're heading back towards summer. Woo hoo.
