When I read about this all I could think was "They just didn't think this through, did they?"

If true, and the WH is denying it, it's pretty damning.

Very good information-the US federal government did know there was a problem coming their way. It was good they started thinking of a federal response. I can even imagine starting from a financial perspective may have been a good start-you have to start somewere-so why not how to get the money....

But it derailed with first "experts"claiming "the virus will go away by itself" and then "political choices" made things worse. Kushner working-most likely-to much on his own with his own group-also was not a good starting point.

The future for the US does not "look good". There is no federal plan while states are not able to take over that role financialy. One may only hope that elections will bring the improvements needed.

A good-long read but the outcome for the US does not look good.

What infuriated me was not the nincompoopery of the Trump Administration, I guess we're all getting used to that.  It was the evil, "Oh, look, more districts suffering in this pandemic are Democratic, we'll just stop in our tracks, and let them die..."  It'll never be proven, but I have no trouble believing it did happen.

Why do you think they stopped using mustard gas in the trenches.......

It blew back onto your own troops.....

DJ-When a virus is used to "deal with a group" it is as stupid as it is criminal. There is a word for it-genocide. Most likely we may be seeing this "use" of a virus against "the poor" as well in Brazil, other Latin American countries, Arab Gulf States against foreign workers.

One also should ask how carecenters did get such high number of deaths. Was it "just mismanagement" or criminal ? (DJ-I think here in NL we may see legal cases against the government on why HCW-ers did not get PPE, did not get tested (official claim lack of testing capacity-on wich lab's showed up claiming their capacity was never used).

A next problem is-when people get the feeling the virus is "used"-how will they comply with a vaccination campain ?

(DJ-From some testcases people that were test-vaccinated did see some more severe complaints-one may feel unwell, muscle pain, headache etc for a few days. Taking some pain-relief in advance may help. But long term effects-both in how long protection last and long term side effects are just being studied. Some vaccines may be "rushed" or only available for rich customers. )

When large groups do get the feeling "their" government is willing to kill them forget about social stability-if you will die anyway you may feel nothing left to loose and "go wild".
