If given approval, the drug could be rolled out for emergency use as early as December 21. 

The drug was found to be 95 percent effective against the virus during trials this month. 

A second trial released results on Monday which showed the drug to be 94 percent effective. 

That trial came from testing 30,000 people and so far has become one of the most potent drugs to have so far been trialled. 

The company’s chief executive, Stephane Bancel, stated Moderna was on course to produce 200 million doses by the end of next month.
