Just looking at who the blood clots affect...... usually women ?..... Could the contraceptive pill have anything to do with the blood clotting, i seem to remember that when the pill first came out there was a problem with blood clotting in older ladies... Just asking ....... Take care all π·π

carbon20-the main reason why J&J vaccines give clotting problems in women is that most HCW-ers are female... Older ladies may not need contraceptives...but it is a good point though. Could there be an interaction between "the pill" and vaccines ? Worth a study !

The risks of blood clots seem to be related to age, with those in their 20s having about 10 times the risk of over 65s (data was shown on the tv news so no links).
I would be willing to get the AstraZeneca vaccine, as I am in a low risk group for it.

The speculation so far is that the difference is hormonal, with a prejudice also toward current and firmer smokers and birth control users.

Presumably that would also include menopausal women on hormone replacement therapy too.

Maybe, but all six women were between 18-48. I think it's related to estrogen/progesterone in some way, or the women smoked and/or used birth control. The women were referred to as "childbearing age", so I don't think they were menopausal yet.

That confirms to me what I thought from the beginning: This is a hormonal thing. All the women were in the "fertile" stage of life. The pill or IUD may be the factor. If so then progesterone would be the bad hat.

Wouldn't the answer be ,take some aspirin before you get jab...? Sorry if that's a bit simplistic.... Take care all π·π

I believe these are specialized brain blood clots, not sure if that would work or not.

ViQueen is right, the specific kind of clot that happens in the brain can't be resolved by blood thinners. Very treatable if caught early, but not with blood thinners.

Use has been restarted... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-56865562 - https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-56865562 There are at least 10 million doses ready to go (imported from Europe - maybe that partly explains the politics of the delay).
