I pity the over stretch health care workers

Quote People are twice as likely to need hospital care if they are sick with Delta Covid, rather than the Alpha, or Kent, variant that was once common in the UK, data from England suggests.

Experts say http://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(21)00475-8/fulltext - the big study, published in The Lancet, reinforces why it is important that people get fully jabbed.

...

The study, led by Public Health England (PHE) and the Medical Research Council, looked at 43,338 Covid cases that occurred between March and May - when both Alpha and Delta were circulating in the UK.

The bulk of these infections were in people who had not yet been vaccinated.

...

Risk of hospital admission was twice as high for individuals diagnosed with the Delta variant, compared to those with Alpha, after adjusting for differences such as age, sex and ethnicity.

Experts say being vaccinated should bring down this risk. Both doses are needed for maximum protection.

With all of the unvaccinated folks worldwide, you just know that newer, more potent mutations are likely to appear.  That is the way RNA viruses work.

https://twitter.com/DrEricDing or https://twitter.com/DrEricDing - https://twitter.com/DrEricDing ; I’ve been warning about #DeltaVariant since April and May that it would lead to a crisis. CDC didn’t even declare Delta a VOC until mid June despite WHO declaring it a VOC in first week of May. That’s derelict given the mountains of data out there by May.

DJ The main problem is government inaction, experts blind for the risks, denial. Blaming the unvaccinated with airtravel in some area's above pre-pandemic levels, people forced to return to school/workplace without proper protection...I hope there soon will be legal steps to deal with the worst politicians and "experts" ...

Vaccines help on the short term but may increase risks on the longer term ! From high level of asymptomatic spread from vaccinated still getting infected to ADE...Vaccines do not stop the spread=mutations=variants enough ! So extra NPI is needed !

Using vaccinations to reopen and see cases explode is insane !

Think I said this before but:

One of main concerns is,some of these people who have had  one dose of the vaccine my think that they are immune ,and just go out and about , without masks or social distancing, this too me is a very underrated risk factor,

Will the virus if only partially affected by the vaccine become more vaccine resistant...????

Not rocket science......

Just virology/ biology..!!!!!!

Take care all πŸ˜·πŸ˜‰πŸ’‰

There was a report from Israel this week, one of the most vaccinated countries in the world, that indicated that people who had received the Pfizer vaccine in January now only had 16% protection. It appears that the efficacy of the vaccines fades quite quickly, confirming that booster shots will be needed, particularly for the vulnerable.

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.
