The majority of Australians, it seems, also approve of returning to their penal colony roots.

Here in Perth ,if you commit a crime in the street ,you will be arrested within a day.....

England transported its convicts and political prisoners, as well as prisoners of war from Scotland and Ireland, to its overseas colonies in the Americas from the 1610s until early in the American Revolution in 1776, when transportation to America was temporarily suspended by the Criminal Law Act 1776 (

I thought you guys were talking about a Penile colony.  But, that 's besides the point.  Actually, I come from a place that could be called hicksville,  USA.  I can  honestly say that I feel safe.  I can go outside at midnight and see wide open sky without the smell of petrol vehicles running.  I can see wild animals cone up to the house and actually feed them.  We have a few drunks and such , but no real crime.  It's quiet and peaceful.  I fed the possums this morning and a few jackrabbits drink out of the stock tank. We enjoy a peaceful life away from the crap.

Stereotypes are distortions.  I know many of you like to lump everyone together. Judge everyone by their own actions, deeds and words.

Yes, I am another ignorant redneck from Hicksville, USA. At least I am not a fake citizen of the nation I claim to represent.

Penal colony? My people originated in Salzburg, Austria. Lutherans. Expelled. Given citizenship by George II. Arrived in Georgia not even two years after the Anne. You know, the Georgia that Lord Oglethorpe founded as a debtor's colony;which also took in most of the other poor bastards convicted of the 19.

Explain "fake" citizen?

Weren't you born in England? A Imperial subject does not a countryman make. I know that it takes a generation or two to become a local in rural Georgia, or Italy for that matter.

My ancestors married outside their group, to include English, Jewish, Yamasee, Irish and Scottish. Seems we were unable to keep our pants on for long!

Why is being descended from someone convicted under unjust laws "racist"?

I guess you have to be  English, and then move to Australia, our government system is the same ,same language, drive on same side of the road,

I just mentioned at work what you said ,one of the guys Australian by birth has just returned from UK after 17 years ,he said there's really no difference in UK and Australia only Australia is hotter....

As for the convict thing , Australians who can trace their heritage to the "first fleet" find it immensely derogatory to call them convicts,

The reason why convicts were transported in the main was to maximize the English population,as the French were making in roads here.

I took exception to your first comment because it was a statement to try and negate  the heading of the post, trying to belittle Australians as if we are dumb,

following your post on another thread ,you are obviously or seem to be a person who thinks that getting vaccinated or wearing a mask is somehow ,wrong, why and how you came to this conclusion is beyond me , ( probably paid to much attention to Chump )

you seem to disbelieve in vaccines or masks , (even though Chump believed in them at the start, hence warp speed and millions of $$$$ to get them out there, ) to be honest I find that to be totally inane, America is now the laughing stock of the world.

People here just shake their heads when looking at what's happening over there.....

Take care all πŸ˜·πŸ˜‰πŸ’‰

Even on this site we are divided.  When is it ok to slam other countries on here?  If people want to talk about the negative things in their own country, go ahead but slamming other countries is just childish behavior.  Lets be better.  Please.

Australia is a nanny country we are a victim of our own prosperity.

We are the model to the rest of the globe of how the the banking cartels can maximize their returns, good little tax payers, good little loan repayors.  Everyone is effectively sheep content to trot along with any global agendas.

Not all of us, but the majority.

One of my sisters lives in Australia and she's totally swallowed the garbage. Australia has been becoming a police state for years. Australians say they love their freedoms but over the recent years they have given so many of them away. We're only the other side of the ditch and yet it's a different world here. I haven't been to Oz for 4 years and I have no intention of going back any time soon. I've been all over and whilst it's a beautiful country with so much to see, it's the nanny state element that I find unsettling. Compare Australia today with Australia 20 years ago and it's unrecognisable.

-

"We now learn that talks about ditching the contract with French in favor of U.S. build nuclear driven boats already started in April 2020 and were finalized during a U.S., Australian, British summit in early June 2021. This was https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-09-16/australia-us-uk-nuclear-option-china-morrison-biden/100466150" style="color: rgb(153, 51, 0); text-decoration: underline; - before Prime Minister Scott Morrison met with the French President Macron to get the French-Australian project back on track!

What the PM didn't tell Macron over that long dinner in Paris — and perhaps why the French President might be particularly miffed — is that Morrison had, just a day or so before, already reached an informal agreement with United States President Joe Biden and British PM Boris Johnson for an extension of a nuclear technology sharing agreement. "

-

"The French, correctly, blame the U.S. for this decision:

In a statement released before the interview, Le Drian and Armed Forces Minister Florence Parly said: “This decision is contrary to the letter and spirit of the cooperation that prevailed between France and Australia."

The statement continued: "The American choice to push aside an ally and European partner like France from a structuring partnership with Australia, at a time when we are facing unprecedented challenges in the Indo-Pacific region ... shows a lack of consistency France can only note and regret."

The French ambassador to the U.S. was a bit more subtle with this zinger:

Philippe Etienne @Ph_Etienne -  https://twitter.com/Ph_Etienne/status/1438332770242240512" style="color: rgb(153, 51, 0); text-decoration: underline; - 2:43 UTC · Sep 16, 2021

Interestingly, exactly 240 years ago the French Navy defeated the British Navy in Chesapeake Bay, paving the way for the victory at Yorktown and the independence of the United States. "

DJ This US-UK-Australia pact is part of Australian elections...China however is "a very important" (in)direct trading partner for Australia...Since Australia's main export may be raw materials-joining the US against China may harm Australia. This AUKUS pact presentation could mean a break with the EU.....

One thing the west keeps ignoring is Russian-Chinese "partnership" and the role thes two countries-together-allready are playing on a global scale. Just like Pakistan, the Philippines, KSA may "move" away from "the west" https://www.moonofalabama.org/2021/09/what-was-bidens-diktat-the-saudis-are-so-furious-about.html or https://www.moonofalabama.org/2021/09/what-was-bidens-diktat-the-saudis-are-so-furious-about.html - https://www.moonofalabama.org/2021/09/what-was-bidens-diktat-the-saudis-are-so-furious-about.html   with China becoming a major trading partner (oil, tourism) and Russia investing in railways...

https://www.moonofalabama.org/2021/09/to-protect-itself-from-us-hostility-australia-decides-to-buy-us-submarines.html or https://www.moonofalabama.org/2021/09/to-protect-itself-from-us-hostility-australia-decides-to-buy-us-submarines.html - https://www.moonofalabama.org/2021/09/to-protect-itself-from-us-hostility-australia-decides-to-buy-us-submarines.html ; It is another U.S. slap into the face of France and the European Union. The deal will piss off New Zealand, Indonesia and of course China. It will upset the international nuclear non proliferation regime and may lead to the further military nuclearization of South Korea and Japan.

DJ I would welcome international cooperation based on respect. (And yes China may not be treating the Uyghurs well-this did not stop most Islamic countries in the way they work with China. The US "fighting for gay rights in Russia, womens right in Afghanistan, Muslim rights in China" is not even a bad joke...).

Russia, China did draw the conclusion "respect" and "the US" are "strangers"....https://halturnerradioshow.com/index.php/en/news-page/world/china-announces-air-raid-siren-tests-all-major-cities-sept-18 or https://halturnerradioshow.com/index.php/en/news-page/world/china-announces-air-raid-siren-tests-all-major-cities-sept-18 - https://halturnerradioshow.com/index.php/en/news-page/world/china-announces-air-raid-siren-tests-all-major-cities-sept-18 basically now are preparing for war....

In that international battle field there is a struggle for allies. With the EU moving away from the US and UK (Brexit works both ways !).  For the EU doing bussinesses with Russia (North Stream 1 + 2 a.o.) and China is seen as an economic necessity. Without a plan to give up "good working relations" with the US and UK (if possible).

Proberbly Russia-China (plus allies) are allready that strong a major war can be avoided. Russia and China may further work on their plans for Korea, Afghanistan, the Middle East/(North) Africa and "the America's".

They may have a better plan, strategy (selecting the conflicts you want to fight...timing them, planning them) then the US (at present) has. The EU-as always very divided-this may proof to be a strength sometimes-may end up balancing actions...

China first want further economic growth-will try to avoid military conflict as best as they can, as long as they can-without giving up certain "red lines". The US getting military involved in Taiwan, large scale "AUKUS" actions in the South China Sea may see "allready planned responses"....(but in a war one of the first things that end is planning...).

We live in interesting times !

China-pandemic wise-may be the dominant global "player/actor". Able to produce "billions" of (booster)vaccines per year-may be able to offer medical teams, mobile hospitals etc. to whoever wants them...of course at a price !

For that matter Astra-Zeneca (UK-Sweden-EU pre Brexit-even worked with Sputnik-V in Russia - adeno virus based vaccine) failed to become a dominant (non profit) vaccine. (Most) US vaccines may be to expensive for a lot of countries.

India was the worlds leading vaccine producer but ended up using most of the India-made vaccines in India.

According to the article linked below, there was a lot of concern over the French order, with substantial price rises and delays, with the first boat meant to enter service now delayed to 2035 and the last one in 2050.
