According to data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) only five states have less than 70 percent of ICU beds in use, as of Monday morning. These states include, Connecticut, Hawaii, New Jersey, South Dakota and Wyoming.

A map tracking ICU bed utilization across the U.S. shows that the rest of the U.S., except for those five states, have 70 percent or more ICU beds currently in use.

What the article fails to include is what the typical occupancy rates are or were before covid. Seems I recall reading that ICU's run anywhere from 70% to 85% full typically anyway. Not like they were just sitting there empty after all.

And let me add without the information in the article of what capacity that ICU's/ Hospitals typically run and then comparing it to the use during the current time frame in relation to covid, what exactly is the article trying to do? It it truly informing the public? Or is it trying to illicit a response of fear?
