There is no moral high ground for the health worker vaxx mandate. There is no science to back the health worker vaxx mandate. There is no logic to back the health care vaxx mandate. If you are hospitalized for covid do you think it's really going to matter to you if your nurse is vaxxed or not? Didn't matter last year. There is no upside to this policy ZERO, but there is already a downside to it as it has already exacerbated the health care worker shortage and it has the distinct potential for an even more severe downside. |
This is an excellent point - if you have Covid of course it wouldn't matter if your nurse was vaxxed or not. And really, if you believe your vaccine works, why would it matter either? Afterall, you're protected aren't you? Of course if you've got to hospital because of a broken leg then you don't want your nurse to be a Covid spreader and if the vaccines worked fully then it would make sense for them to have had it, but with the newer scientific evidence unanimously stating that the vaccines don't stop you catching Covid or spreading it, then whether someone is vaxxed or not it should make no difference. I've said for a while now that a big problem with the vaccines is that they increase your chances of having an asymptomatic case of Covid, and therefore we are seeing people who feel fine and have no symptoms taking Covid unwittingly into places where vulnerable people are shielding. This has just happened in Auckland where an asymptomatic care home worker infected 15 fully vaccinated old people, some of whom have since died in hospital from it. If anything, it might be better to only employ the unvaccinated in care homes as at least they are likely to know when they have it.
------------- Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.
