U.S. Senators Introduce Bill to Designate Russia State Sponsor of Terrorism

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic and Republican U.S. senators introduced legislation on Wednesday that would designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, a label pushed for by Ukraine but opposed by President Joe Biden's administration.

Ukraine’s state border guard service rescued five teenagers who had been locked in a basement for seven days by Russian troops in the recently liberated city of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region.

The teenagers, four girls and a boy ages 15 to 17, are all students of the same educational institute. They said Russian soldiers had locked them in the basement without an explanation. “They are safe now,” the state border guard service said on Telegram.

The city of Siversk was also shelled overnight. At least two private houses were destroyed. Information about the victims has not yet been received.

Russian troops also shelled the old part of Avdiyivka, aas well as the central districts of the city. There were no casualties.

The village of Bohoyavlenka of the Vuhledar municipality was also hit by enemy attacks, with the volume of destruction there currently being assessed.

After the almost complete capture of Luhansk Oblast, invading Russian forces now attack settlements in Donetsk Oblast on a daily basis with all types of weapons, including missiles.
