DJ-Pandemics have to be linked to their backgrounds. Without World War 1 the Spanish Flu very likely could have been limited. Also the Black Death has links with both wars and climate changes...both the end of the West- and East Roman empires have pandemic links... Climate "change/collapse" will bring both more extreme weather and earthquakes. Weather http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2023/04/ipcc-keeps-downplaying-the-danger-even-as-reality-strikes.html or http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2023/04/ipcc-keeps-downplaying-the-danger-even-as-reality-strikes.html ; As illustrated by the above image, the daily sea surface temperature (SST) between 60°South and 60°North was at a record high on April 2, 2023, i.e. the highest temperature in the NOAA record that started in 1981. This record high sea surface temperature comes as we're moving into a new El Niño, as illustrated by the image on the right, adapted from NOAA. DJ, to keep it short and simple-higher sea surface temperatures bring more/stronger storms now hitting the US, a very bad monsoon-with flooding in South Asia... It also brings less ice pushing down the underlying earth on Greenland, Antarctica, several other parts of the globe-resulting in an increase of seismic events. DJ In2ThinAir https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1rcVcx1o_s or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1rcVcx1o_s ; Here we go again, Another VERY large 7.0 Earthquake at almost 400 MILES IN DEPTH. PLEASE Like & Share these videos to your Social Media Platforms. it Helps more then you know and please tell me your thoughts! SOURCE LINKS BELOW! In many cases in the past when an earthquake of this depth takes place we see larger more shallow Quakes take place within about 2-3 days so This also an Earthquake Warning. There may be some statistics linking deep quakes with stronger shallow quakes later on...however it does not seem to be the "law".... Of course major natural disasters in pandemic times are a bad combination... -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Atlantic_hurricane_season or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Atlantic_hurricane_season ; Pre-season forecasts[edit]On December 6, 2022, TSR released the first early prediction for the 2023 Atlantic season, predicting a slightly below average year with 13 named storms, 6 hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes.[3] Their updated prediction on April 6, 2023, called for a similar number of hurricanes and major hurricanes, but reduced the number of named storms by one.[4] The following day, the University of Arizona (UA) posted their forecast for a very busy season featuring 19 named storms, 9 hurricanes, 5 major hurricanes, and an ACE index of 163 units.[5] On April 13, CSU researchers released their prediction of 13 named storms, 6 hurricanes, 2 major hurricanes, and an ACE index of 100 units.[10] Also on April 13, TWC posted their forecast for 2023, calling for 15 named storms, 7 hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes.[7] While most organizations expressed growing confidence in the development of an El Niño, which typically suppresses Atlantic hurricane activity, TWC, UA and CSU in particular noted that well above average ocean temperatures in the Atlantic basin could yield greater activity, particularly if a weaker El Niño event materializes.[6] and; The following list of names will be used for named storms that form in the North Atlantic in 2023. Retired names, if any, will be announced by the World Meteorological Organization in the spring of 2024. The names not retired from this list will be used again in the 2029 season. This is the same list used in the 2017 season, with the exceptions of Harold, Idalia, Margot, and Nigel, which replaced Harvey, Irma, Maria, and Nate, respectively.
DJ...record high sea surface temperatures could result in more storms...However past seasons did see a lot of sand being transported from Africa-Sahara over the Atlantic limiting storms...Also dry air could mean lower risk of flooding...with more extreme rain events maybe less linked to hurricanes... DJ-In the east of Ukraine lots of rain did see some Ukraine claims Russia is "using a weather weapon"....not that likely...Russia may have problems from that rain as well... More rain in some areas could compensate for less snow in winter - keeping supply of water going on. |

Climate.gov describes this sea temperature oscillation as: El Niño and La Niña are the warm and cool phases of a recurring climate pattern across the tropical Pacific—the El Niño-Southern Oscillation, or “ENSO” for short. The pattern shifts back and forth irregularly every two to seven years, bringing predictable shifts in ocean surface temperature and disrupting the wind and rainfall patterns across the tropics. These changes have a cascade of global side effects. While its impacts are global, its impact on the Atlantic Hurricane season is described by NOAA as: Simply put, El Niño favors stronger hurricane activity in the central and eastern Pacific basins, and suppresses it in the Atlantic basin (Figure 1). Conversely, La Niña suppresses hurricane activity in the central and eastern Pacific basins, and enhances it in the Atlantic basin (Figure 2). The caveat being that 1992 was an El Niño year, and it saw one of the most destructive hurricanes on record (Andrew) hit South Florida, during what was otherwise a lackluster hurricane season. 1969 was an active El Niño year, which saw CAT 5 hurricane Camille slam into the upper gulf coast. Which is why I will still be preparing this summer the same as I do every year. The blue trend, based on Jan.1850-Mar.2023 NOAA data, points at a 3°C rise in 2032. The magenta trend, based on Oct.2010-Mar.2023 NOAA data, better reflects variables such as El Niño and sunspots, and illustrates how they could trigger a rise of more than 5°C in 2026. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and GNS Science assessed the quake near the Kermadec Islands was unlikely to have caused a tsunami that would posed threat to New Zealand. The earthquake struck at 12:42pm NZT, in the same vicinity as the magnitude 8.1 earthquake that struck on March 4, 2021, and prompted tsunami evacuations for large parts of the North Island. The Spanish Flu did kill that many because World War 1 limited information/(international) action to limit spread... There are lots of things we do not (yet) know of/on earthquakes...The largest ones go M (magnitude) 9 to 9,5 in recent history...that is the last 70 years or so...There is a lot of discussion on maximum quake-strength...An asteroid would be able to create an M.11+ ...could "end" this planet...(there is some discussion on moons being created as an outcome of asteroid strikes...). It is very likely "tectonics" can create stronger then M9.5 quakes...upper limit M10 ? Tsunami's-mega waves-can move all over the planet-did so several times the last 25 years...Often the waves in most places do no/little damage...still can be measured...But in Japan, Indonesia tsunami's killed thousends...with waves killing people in East Africa... -------------- We are allready in a lot of global chaos...Major earthquakes is the last thing we need...Less ice pushing down on Greenland, Antarctica etc. means the land under the ice is rising...it creates quakes...Volcanic activity and quakes also are linked...Major volcanic eruptions do cause food problems...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer ; The year 1816 is known as the Year Without a Summer because of severe climate abnormalities that caused average global temperatures to decrease by 0.4–0.7 °C (0.7–1 °F).[1] Summer temperatures in Europe were the coldest of any on record between the years of 1766 and 2000.[2] This resulted in major food shortages across the Northern Hemisphere.[3] Evidence suggests that the anomaly was predominantly a volcanic winter event caused by the massive 1815 eruption of Mount Tambora in April in the Dutch East Indies (known today as Indonesia). This eruption was the largest in at least 1,300 years (after the hypothesized eruption causing the volcanic winter of 536); its effect in the climate may have been exacerbated by the 1814 eruption of Mayon in the Philippines. We live in a complex system, pandemics are the outcome of a complex process... |

At least four people were killed, some were injured, and some remain possibly missing in Tonga from tsunami waves up to 20 m (66 ft) high. Tsunami waves with run-up heights up to 45 m (148 ft) struck the uninhabited island of Tofua. Two people drowned in Peru when 2 m (6 ft 7 in) waves struck the coast. It was the largest volcanic eruption since the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo, and the most powerful eruption since the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa.[12] NASA determined that the eruption was "hundreds of times more powerful" than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.[13] The eruption was the largest explosion recorded in the atmosphere by modern instrumentation, far larger than any 20th century volcanic event or nuclear bomb test. It is thought that in recent centuries, only the Krakatoa eruption of 1883 rivalled the atmospheric disturbance produced.[14][15] DJ, a major volcanic eruption will influence global weather, can be catastrophic...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supervolcano or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supervolcano ; A supervolcano is a volcano that has had an eruption with a Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI) of 8, the largest recorded value on the index. This means the volume of deposits for such an eruption is greater than 1,000 cubic kilometers (240 cubic miles).[1] Supervolcanoes occur when magma in the mantle rises into the crust but is unable to break through it. Pressure builds in a large and growing magma pool until the crust is unable to contain the pressure and ruptures. This can occur at hotspots (for example, Yellowstone Caldera) or at subduction zones (for example, Toba).[2][3] Large-volume supervolcanic eruptions are also often associated with large igneous provinces, which can cover huge areas with lava and volcanic ash. These can cause long-lasting climate change (such as the triggering of a small ice age) and threaten species with extinction. The Oruanui eruption of New Zealand's Taupō Volcano (about 26,500 years ago) was the world's most recent VEI-8 eruption.[4] DJ...again I am NOT an expert...just trying to understand events... |

It is the 4th largest earthquake of 2021. Tectonic setting[edit]Located about 415 km to the east of the island of New Caledonia in the southwest Pacific Ocean occurred as the result of low angle thrust faulting on or near the plate boundary interface between the Indo-Australian and Pacific plates. Focal mechanism solutions indicate the earthquake occurred on either a shallow fault striking west and dipping to the north, or on a steep fault striking east. The earthquake was preceded by two foreshocks of M 6.1 and M 6.0 in the hour before the earthquake. At the location of this earthquake, the Indo-Australian plate moves towards the east-northeast with respect to the Pacific at a rate of approximately 75 mm/yr. so does this exclude possible volcanic risks in that region/ring of fire ? https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/region/48597/earthquakes/loyalty-islands.html or https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/region/48597/earthquakes/loyalty-islands.html does not answer that question. Yasur is known for its spectacular persistent strombolian activity that consists of regular small to violent explosions from one or several vents. DJ, eruption is pressure release... https://sciencestruck.com/relationship-between-earthquakes-volcanoes or https://sciencestruck.com/relationship-between-earthquakes-volcanoes ; Earthquakes and volcanic activity are closely related to each other. In fact, earthquakes usually accompany a volcanic eruption. Similarly, unusual earthquakes can also lead to volcanic eruptions. - Similar to earthquakes, volcanic activity is observed when the plates are divergent (move apart) or convergent (move towards each other). In such plate movements, the magma present in the plate boundaries may rise to the Earth’s surface, leading to volcanic eruptions. Divergent plates may cause long volcanic rifts, whereas convergent plates result in individual volcanic eruptions. In addition, both activities occur within a plate, which are referred to as intraplate earthquakes and volcanoes, respectively. It is estimated that about 10 percent of earthquakes are of this type. DJ....maybe only time can tell ? |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_q1uvnLa4Yg or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_q1uvnLa4Yg in2ThinAir; Solar Storms & Earthquakes Once again! So... We basically predicted a Caribbean Earthquake 2 days ago and here we sit with a 6.6 striking near Panama. The sun is producing yet MORE concerning sunspots that NOAA is expecting to become extremely active even within hours. This is going to be a trend we see moving forward. Typhoon MAYWAR may hit as fast at 190 MPH winds as it approaches Taiwan, All we can do is hope for the best. DJ "Maywar" is expected to stop-move north before it reaches Taiwan...still may see windspeeds close to 200mph/320 kmh...extreme storm... https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/storminfo/ or https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/storminfo/ following storms...first Atlantic storm may be forming however not hurricanes are expected yet...Sea Surface temperature in many places already hot...with El Nino forming it only will warm more... This will translate into stronger storms/more rain-flooding...With also more droughts in other places...A mix of drought for months-then extreme rain-can bring a lot of destruction. A.o. in NE Africa a famine may see millions of people starving...We can prevent it...but "we" rather spend trillions on weapons-wars...only getting a few very rich... DJ-Since a "hot ocean" increases melt of polar ice and seafloor permafrost we may see more methane release...Part of that release could be "explosive"... Also less land ice pushing Antarctica, Greenland, Himalaya down the underlying landmass will tend to rise...increasing seismic/volcanic risks...There are at least two volcanos in Antarctica...Less landice, warmer temperatures may increase volcanic risks there... A major volcanic eruption may decrease global temperature -which may decrease further food production. This even further is worsening the already major food crisis...Also air quality could be at risk because of volcanic ash, wildfires... |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsunami#Seismicity or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsunami#Seismicity ; Tsunamis have a small wave height offshore, and a very long wavelength (often hundreds of kilometres long, whereas normal ocean waves have a wavelength of only 30 or 40 metres),[37] which is why they generally pass unnoticed at sea, forming only a slight swell usually about 300 millimetres (12 in) above the normal sea surface. They grow in height when they reach shallower water, in a wave shoaling process described below. A tsunami can occur in any tidal state and even at low tide can still inundate coastal areas. On April 1, 1946, the 8.6 Mw Aleutian Islands earthquake occurred with a maximum Mercalli intensity of VI (Strong). It generated a tsunami which inundated Hilo on the island of Hawaii with a 14-metre high (46 ft) surge. Between 165 and 173 were killed. The area where the earthquake occurred is where the Pacific Ocean floor is subducting (or being pushed downwards) under Alaska. Examples of tsunamis originating at locations away from convergent boundaries include Storegga about 8,000 years ago, Grand Banks in 1929, and Papua New Guinea in 1998 (Tappin, 2001). The Grand Banks and Papua New Guinea tsunamis came from earthquakes which destabilised sediments, causing them to flow into the ocean and generate a tsunami. They dissipated before travelling transoceanic distances. The cause of the Storegga sediment failure is unknown. Possibilities include an overloading of the sediments, an earthquake or a release of gas hydrates (methane etc.). The 1960 Valdivia earthquake (Mw 9.5), 1964 Alaska earthquake (Mw 9.2), 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake (Mw 9.2), and 2011 Tōhoku earthquake (Mw9.0) are recent examples of powerful megathrust earthquakes that generated tsunamis (known as teletsunamis) that can cross entire oceans. Smaller (Mw 4.2) earthquakes in Japan can trigger tsunamis (called local and regional tsunamis) that can devastate stretches of coastline, but can do so in only a few minutes at a time. DJ, A Tsunami is different than a "wind caused wave" in that a tsunami-"wave" has ALL of the water in movement...wind only causes waves on the surface...A tsunami can go very high speed (1,000 km/h) -involves a larger part of the ocean and may show itself when it reaches the shore...So it may NOT be a gigantic wave in the middle of an ocean !!! Depending on the coastlines it hits it can do limited or very major damage...A NorthSea or New York tsunami does not need to be very major to do a lot of killing/damage...Japan, Indonesia did see urban area's being hit by a tsunami in recent history killing tens of thousends... It is very likely history may have seen tsunami's far stronger.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doggerland#Disappearance or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doggerland#Disappearance ; A recent hypothesis suggests that around 6200 BCE much of the remaining coastal land was flooded by a tsunami caused by a submarine landslide off the coast of Norway known as the Storegga Slide. This suggests "that the Storegga Slide tsunami would have had a catastrophic impact on the contemporary coastal Mesolithic population ... Britain finally became separated from the continent and in cultural terms, the Mesolithic there goes its own way."[13] A study published in 2014 suggested that the only remaining parts of Doggerland at the time of the Storegga Slide were low-lying islands, but supported the view that the area had been abandoned at about the same time as the tsunamis.[4] Another view speculates that the Storegga tsunami devastated Doggerland, but then ebbed back into the sea, and that later Lake Agassiz (in North America) burst, releasing so much fresh water that sea levels rose over about two years to flood much of Doggerland and make Great Britain an island.[14] The difference in distribution of broken shells between lower-lying and high-lying parts of the area also suggest survival of land after the Storegga tsunami.[15] DJ, Doggerland was the link between the British Isles and NW Europe...now North Sea... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Saints%27_Flood_(1170) or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Saints%27_Flood_(1170) ; The All Saints' Flood of 1170 (Allerheiligenvloed) was a catastrophic flood in the Netherlands that took place in 1170. Large parts of the Northern Netherlands, and Holland territories were overflowed. The flooding North Sea created the islands of Wieringen and Texel. Lake Flevo was once a fresh water lake, but a sea channel opened a connection from the North Sea into the lake through Creil Woods. Lake Flevo began to turn into the salt-water sea known as the Zuiderzee. By around 1248, the transformation of the lake into the Zuiderzee was complete.[1] By around 1248, The Creiler Woods vanished under the waves. The sea area increased inside the Netherlands and large peat areas developed, which were easily washed away. The flood rendered the settlement of Rotta (the predecessor of Rotterdam) uninhabitable,[2] and marked the beginning of Amsterdam, where the area gained an open connection to the sea, and where a dam was built in the Amstel to protect the land from future floods.[3] DJ, the last thousend years NL did see several major floods killing thousends but also reshaping NL on the map.... One could see an interaction between hurricanes and earthquakes...large masses of water...weight in trillions of kilo's-on the move can cause quakes...but also worsen storms even further... So a possible scenario-not that far away-may see a mix of earthquake-tsunami-hurricane/cyclone... https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/storminfo/#02W or https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/storminfo/#02W or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_Mawar or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_Mawar likely to stay east of Taiwan then move north-east to stay east of Japan while moving -much weaker-to Alaska/Canada...Did kill two men on Guam... |

No one knows if a Tsunami is coming. DJ https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/one-of-new-zealands-biggest-earthquakes-of-year-just-struck-in-puysegur-trench-but-no-one-felt-it/KFPNWH7AZ5DXZPIE3E574QQZA4/ or https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/one-of-new-zealands-biggest-earthquakes-of-year-just-struck-in-puysegur-trench-but-no-one-felt-it/KFPNWH7AZ5DXZPIE3E574QQZA4/ One of New Zealand’s biggest earthquakes of the year struck at 2.21pm this afternoon, in an area with proven potential to generate tsunamis. But such was the shallow 5.9 quake’s long distance from the mainland – it hit 450km south of the South Island, and 285km southwest of the remote Snares Islands – that just one person reported feeling it on GeoNet. It happened to strike near a little-understood seismic zone that’s produced some of the most powerful earthquakes in New Zealand’s recent history. That was the Puysegur Trench: a plate boundary where the Australian plate dives below the Pacific plate - the opposite way to how the two plates subduct in the North Island, in the better-known Hikurangi Subduction Zone. The boundary stretches for more than 800km south from the South Island, to a point in the wild and windy Southern Ocean, around 400km west of the Auckland Islands. could it be related to less land-ice on Antarctica-so landmass being less pushed down by that ice-rising slowly ? In 2009, the 7.8 Fiordland earthquake struck close to the northern end of the trench, releasing 25,000 times more energy than the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki in 1945 and twisted the South Island, moving Puysegur Pt on the southwestern tip of the island 30cm closer to Australia. Its remote location, near Dusky Sound, meant there was relatively little damage. A magnitude 7.2 quake hit the trench itself in November 2004 – a month before an 8.1 quake near the trench caused shaking felt as far as Tasmania. GeoNet duty seismologist Dr Jonathan Hanson said we could be reasonably confident this afternoon’s quake was related to subduction zone processes in the area. “The fact that we see quite a lot of events located in a really similar area reinforces that it’s likely to be related to some ongoing processes there.” In the past 20 years, scientists have located about 100 events in the region. what is the potential maximum magnitude of the combination of fault-lines south from New Zealand-to Samoa ? Recent history did see an M8.1 in 2004... In strike-slip faulting, each side of the crustal block slides past the other without uplift and down-thrust, while in reverse faulting, the block above the fault moves up relative to the block below the fault. “That’s quite an interesting phenomenon itself, that we can be seeing two distinct kinds of earthquake activity in this area,” he said. “But the main thing to take away from this, is that it’s a reminder we have a subduction zone off the South Island that is productive and capable of generating large, tsunamigenic events.” In this afternoon’s case, no tsunami threat to New Zealand had been identified. Maybe satellites did take over the job (tsunami-watch) from buoys ? But it may be south of New Zealand-and some other areaś-may be hard to get a good view on... |
