A  sincere thank you to all the people who have posted on this board. I have been reading post over the last few days, and gleaned a lot of valuble info. on this subject.

Over the last couple of months I have been buying a few extra things evrytime I was @ the Grocery Store. My wife finds it amusing.

After reading what I have, I just got back from a $500.00 Sam's run. I am still not done. She is out of town right now.....at first glance, she is going to think I have lost my mind. LOL!!

Thanks again, everybody.

Bob

P.S. The 911, it's a car thing.

That's a good lad, Bob.  Welcome to the Board.
I had a little bird,
his name was Enza;
I opened the window,
and influenza.

Thanks Bob and welcome into the sunshine!

My husband would be thrilled if he got out of Costco for only $500.00.

All the food and supplies  that I stock up will surely end up costing less than a month or two of the so called "health insurance" that I have pay  a fortune for as a self-employed person.

It helped my wife get on board by telling her that if providence smiles upon us all and we don't end up needing the food, it will be well received at the local food shelf.

Once you get the prep mentality, though, I think it might be hard to shake. P

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I have spoken w/ my wife since my first post. She is onboard 110%. We will continue to prep w/ she returns tomorrow. The next challange is to convince some of our family to do the same, or join us if it goes the wrong way.

If anyone is interested, I have figured out how to go totaly solar to power my freezer, frig, fans, (I live in Houston) lights ect.for less than $1000.00. I have a generator, but I like the stealth of solar.

Bob

that is something that I have been researching!!  Tell me where you are planning to purchase the Solar Panels and equipment please...I am sure it will be so much better than running a generator!!   Welcome 911 Bob.

Let me clearify, not every light in my house, but one or two in addition to candles or flashlights.

The system I have come up w/ will have
  • Continuous output power: 5000 Watts
  • Surge power capability (peak power): 10000 Watts
  • Quadruple ac receptacle
  • I am not selling these, I have 25 years in the Automotive and Electrical industries.

I will post tomorrow the details on how to put this together.

I can't wait to see this 911bob. If I had solar for the freezer, and fridge, we would be OK. Lights aint no big deal to me.

Is the car thing a 911? I don't get the bob, part though. I'm a chevy FREAK myself, 4x4 cab rigged crawlers.
