The virus we are fighting spreads by widening concentric circles of infection. (The wider the circle that individuals infect, the faster the pandemic spreads.) The more capable at-home healers / caregivers we have, the less society will fall apart....and the sooner it will recover. We MUST fight this spreading killer virus...with a spreading healing one....from person to person.
It might sound crass--but this IS going to be "a numbers game." Fought with love--ignited, and passed on....and passed on. "...Abba...Father...."

abba, so true a post!
"Love--ignited, and passed on....and passed on." Except for the kindness of strangers, where will we all be? Whose loving hand will gently caress and care for my raging fever? My prayer is to be a soldier and not a victim. To be able to be loving and kind to strangers, like the Samaritan, should be what we are striving for and has been the hallmark of our civilization for time times. Are we calling for the death of others or are we calling for a healing touch? "By their fruit you shall know them" Physicians and nurses cannot do this alone! As soldiers in this war, we all have to be healers in every way we can or what will be left of our society will be a soul-less shell. |

Abba, "concentric circles of infections", "home healers are the infantry", beautifully written, poetic, powerful. Welcome to AFT, Argyll.

Abba,
Good point and welcome to the forum. During the 1918 pandemic there were few towns that were not affected. There are letters from traveling physicians that documented that the flu moved across the country as fast as the train.
The home-healer will be the norm. Hospital will close due to high numbres of patients and reduced staff. Hospitals, like most businesses, run a 'just-in-time' system of supplies. This will have obvious results.
The symptoms of avian influenza in humans are severe! There are patients who have died even with the benefit of modern intensive care units.
If a patient will be treated at home, several precautions and preparations are needed.
A partial solution may be opening schools as 'islands' of isolated non-infected people. Other schools as 'islands' of only infected persons.
I hate to see so many uninterested regular folks (non-AFF folks). If this virus goes H2H2H. Mass confusion will reign O're the land.
