Pennsylvania declared for Biden. For those of you who don't know, a recount in a Presidential election has never flipped the count to the loser. |

The only state for a recount will be Georgia,..the margin is more than half of a percent in the other states which is the threshold ... Joe’s road will be hard but to know someone will be working hard to get the virus under control gives me hope. Today is a great day! God Bless America! |

He'll call for a recount in PA as well. Last I checked it was just .05% so it meets the recount criteria. |

Like you said, it's not gonna do him any good. Biden now has Nevada in his quiver, as well, and he will probably wind up with Arizona, and maybe Georgia. A recount may affect Georgia's results, miniscule chance, but no way will Trump get enough to reverse the election results. |

Historically, no recount has ever changed a presidential election result. There has never been more than a handful of votes difference between the counts either. It is obvious to all sane people that this will go nowhere for Trump. I wonder how long it will take him to realise he is only further tarnishing his historical record by this childish deviation from societal norms. As far as I can tell, that would be the only reason he would concede defeat; it is certainly not because he is a gentleman - nor a sporting loser, not even a little bit. |

I think the whole world is sighing with relief. It's great news. At last a president who is presidential. I wonder, with Joe Biden being so old already, if we'll see Kamela Harris stepping up as the female president before this term is out? It's a great result either way. I'm so pleased for America. At least some dignity will return to the politics there. |

The trust and respect that the British people had for the USA had been sorely undermined by the Trump administration, making America seem to be barbaric, extremely right-wing and only interested in the worship of Mamon. Considering it is predominantly a Christian nation, I find that horriffic. Now, a man and a lady who have respect and moderation, of and for their nation, have taken power, I hope that this will become a time of reconsciliation and the rebirth of true democracy in the USA. I hope it will begin a move towards the removal of the death penalty, equality of the sexes and more importantly a rapid and heartfelt move towards the development of equality in race, sexuality, educational opportunity and that those whom are the subject of lesser social mobility will be able to acquire health care 'at the point of need' and not just in extreme emergencies. I am a Republican. I am Irish and have a full understanding, from personal suffering, of the effects of racial discrimination and the need for health care. Although I am not a Catholic, I do hope that President Biden and his very wonderful wife, Dr. Biden will be able to inch America gently in this direction. I hope my many American friends, whom I greatly admire and respect for their military pasts and their patriotism, will get treated more fairly than has recently been the case. I personally disliked President Trump a great deal, but have respect and faith in rest of the Republican movement. If any man can bring the parties to a more middle ground and any woman can bring respect for people of colour in America, I think President Biden and Vice President Harris are the two whom can do it. GOD BLESS AMERICA! |

It has been an interesting time. I am greatly relieved that people on BOTH sides have held back and let the process of democracy work. For me the way the American public has handled this looooong wait shows them in a very good light. For me for any country to be 'great' there needs to be a moral dimension and under Trump it seemed to be sleazy at best. In one way I am very glad that this is over...my wife (due to a neurological condition) has responded badly to all the "information overload" surrounding this election and we live no where near the States. I have had to skip several of the tv news reports (so find my news online). |

I understand you're wife's response. I live here and I stopped following the race a couple of months ago believing that there were very few who hadn't made up their mind. Also... too much drama and confusion from the media. I myself had problems with the information overload. The important thing now is will Americans be able to admit we were wrong. I don't think that will happen. Somewhere along the line the mentality took hold that being wrong meant you were bad or weak. That being said, I am the youngest of four children. I'm very used to being "wrong". |

Personally, I don't specifically want a blue wave. I'm not anti-Republican. (In fact, with one house red and the other blue, some sensible centrist policies should emerge.) I am a centrist above all. Extreemism on either side always brings disaster. I did long to see the back of Trump. He is no true Republican, he is just a nasty divisive, racist POS stuck in the White House like a cuckoo's fledgling. He used the Republican party to get power. He used division, lies, bullying and control of the press to try to deepen and cement it. He deliberately appealed to the nastiest side of people. This makes Republicans look nasty - which the vast majority are not! He has in my opinion, brought great shame on the whole party. I hope the damage is temporary; America thrives BECAUSE of the ballance between the two sides. Sadly, I think Republicanism may suffer for a while. I have so many arguments with Trump's style of 'leadership' I never know where to stop pointing out the flaws. I could continue for many pages if I let myself go. Suffice to say he was an 'agent of chaos'. Thankfully, over half of Americans finally saw through this clone of Himler and let their better natures speak. Maybe now, without him America can heal some of its divisions. With him in power they would have just grown deeper. This is not how Americans should behave. You are the UNITED states, for God's sake. Biden support parties still in full swing BTW. AI. BH visibly absent - unless you refer to the orange demon on the golf course; he looks rather upset. 'Serves him right! The worst thing you could do to a narcissist is to show how much he is despised - and he is, or show him he is irrelevant and go on to ignore him - The American majority did. "OUCH!" "B******t!" |

I'm with you on that. Little known fact: I used to be a Republican. Old school but then whether you call it Moral Majority, Liberty party, Freedom Party or whatever name the far right labels itself, it all boils down to a redux of the old John Birch society. |

Great stuff, Witchy, and I want to thank you for bringing going Malcolm Nance to our attention. I watched the interview you mentioned just now on MSNBC.com and found it very thought-provoking. If we could get Republicans in the vein of T. Roosevelt or Eisenhower to run, I would vote for them wholeheartedly, and I am a lifelong Democrat. Great point about the gun control. I believe in a little stricter control and regulation around guns for the simple reasons that there is a lot of undiagnosed mental illness running around, and because my childhood was dominated by my stepfather who liked to concealed-carry to the bar, where he would get roaring drunk and argue with people. At the same time, the numbers 9 and 357 are good friends of mine. |
