"There is no vaccine for SARS-CoV-2 , and it is extremely unlikely that a vaccine will be will play a role in ending this pandemic. This makes isolation and even mildly effective treatments incredibly important. It is best not to rush to a vaccine with the spiked protein either, because animal studies have shown that animals vaccinated and SARS with a spike protein vaccine have had a high mortality rate. Individuals who have had a past SARS or MERS infection may reasonably be expected to be at increased risk of a serious severe case of COVID-19."

I am a bit inclined to agree.

Although there are rigid safety tests applied to any new vaccine, they can't cover everyone and every possible set of existing conditions.

This nasty virus picks on older people.   Those very few unlucky people who are damaged by vaccines, are usually the ones who would have died of the actual disease or suffered the most. I plan to use social distancing to achieve a state of safety until the vaccine has been around a while. Believe me I will not be a spreader. You have to have contact for that.

There is a huge pressure to get this vaccine fast. Rushed people make mistakes. I'm not saying they will. But they are not finding out on me.

Ring vaccination does stop outbreaks. Usually quite dramatically. That is how they stopped smallpox. Had it not been for a few refusers, it would have stopped polio too. But it can't work unless you know where the outbreaks are. This bug is great at hiding. Early cases are asymptomatic for ages but still contagious. How can you ring vaccinate around a point you don't know about?

Three months later, sign me up, but I will not be in the first wave.

I agree with this logic! I'm not even sure if I'm game for it at 3 mos...a year or 2 maybe? Takes time for problems to show/prove out? I am NOT a fan of vaccines, believe way too many are given now - but for something like this...yeah maybe!
If it's to be - it's up to me!

I'm with you on this vaccine Techno. The vaccine they made for SARS turned out to be more dangerous than SARS itself was. It primed the recipient for sudden death if they then encountered SARS after having received the vaccine for it.

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.
