President Donald Trump closed the U.S.-Mexico border to all nonessential traffic, a move he said will help slow the spread of the coronavirus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Friday’s announcement followed a similar move on the U.S.-Canada border, where a temporary closure is expected to go into effect Friday at midnight.

“As we did with Canada, we’re also working with Mexico to implement new rules to suspend nonessential travel,” Trump said at a press conference Friday morning. He added that the new rules “will not impede lawful trade and commerce.”

(I work in Mexico (consult to the dairy industry) and live about 40 miles from the border, so I always figured we could make a run south if it got hairy up here. Uh, no.)

Well if you walk you can cross illegally like the Mexicans do just the other way.  Like the move Day After Tomorrow.   I watch way to many movies!

JD you are funny, I keep watching The Stand, 12 Monkeys, Contagion...I am sick...LOL!  Makes me feel better that "others" have gone through this...LOL that is sick it is a movie!!!

I can't watch the Road, it's way too scary for me. I still haven't seen it all. What's the disease movie with Dustin Hoffman in it? I wish I had some of them on DVD.

Watch "Containment" about an outbreak in Atlanta.  Also there was one on DVD called Bird flu or avian flu and followed a family that were prepares and how they survived and also after it was over and how they sort of lived on homesteads.  So many interesting ones out there.

On a serious note, when I had thought about a collapse situation I had imagined that there would be more time to unwind the interconnectedness of this world, more time for people to get back home. Never did I image so many borders closed so quickly.
