I know the propaganda we are hearing is "we don't want the hospitals to be overwhelmed". The best numbers I have seen shows covid-19 to be around 10x as severe as flu. Even regular flu overwhelms are health care system. So lets say we can slow down the corona virus to have a similar effect. We would be having our hospitals running at 100%+ for 10 times as long. So instead of a devastating peak that lasts 2-3 months we would have a very bad peak that last 9 month- year or even longer that is very bad. I would argue that having our healthcare system stressed for that long would lead to more bad outcomes than 2-3 months of stress. Are they trying to slow it down enough that Summer can come and save us? Even then what happens the next fall? Do they think that they can actually contain it till a vaccine is available? At least 6months- year away if it is even possible. Coronaviruses are notoriously bad candidates for vaccines. Good luck with that one. Are they just trying to slow it down enough that we can acquire and position more supplies and equipment to fight it? (this might make sense) Do they think that we will soon find some miracle treatment and that is the motivation to slow things down? Are they simply panicked and this is the ONLY tool in their tool belt? Do they actually want to trigger an economic/financial reset? Many of us have felt for a long time that we where headed for a devastating financial collapse, maybe they found a scapegoat named corona, so that they can trigger it on their own terms and not be blamed for it. The way I see it we only get out of this two ways. Either with a vaccine or everybody gets exposed. We have no guarantee that a vaccine will save us. Life is gonna suck really bad for while. I think it is best for EVERYBODY to take our lumps and get it over with as quickly as possible, yes even if it means a moderately higher death toll. It isn't just about lives lost during the pandemic, but also the countless millions of lives ruined by their mitigation strategies. |

I think they are trying what ever they think will keep a million or more people from dying. Everyone has the "answer" or "critical" of what our Government is trying to do At least then are trying everything they can it is up to us to SIP and Social Distance. If we don't many more will die. |

Of course we all want to see fewer deaths. However I fear they are just slowing down the inevitable, that is no good for any of us. I guess if they buy us time we can pray for a miracle. Unfortunately Nature and Mathematics is what it is is and we have only a small influence on the former, and none on the latter. |

I think it's become a clear choice between the economy (money), and lives. All countries it seems have chosen to protect life over their economy, and shut down whatever they had to. |
