So you can't see a difference between ,a protest in the street ,

And an  organized armed assault on your Capitol building ......

Stired up by an egotistical maniac.....

Who was shunned by  all world leaders apart from his puppet master Putin......

You ain't well matey ,you living in la la land....

Take care all 😷😉

Tell me how burning hundreds of buildings and businesses down(estimated 2 billion dollars of damage), assaulting police and killing people and looting are just "protests in the street".  You vilify group A and and embrace group B even when group B's actions were more widespread and violent on a national scale for months. Who's in LA LA liberal no logic land LOL

So do you.

But there are differences; the BLM folk did not try to overturn a fair election.  They did not try to hang Pence or Pelosi.  They were too worried about constriction of their own necks, to want to constrict another person's.

Steak Sauce,

The BLM protests and others in sympathy with them are in vein with the larger protests against the powers that be, the one percenters, the racists and the elite. I consider the protests to be small potatoes against the wholesale injustices of racism/ class warfare and genocide that the working class and the poor face every day.  The assault against the capital was an effort to attack democratic rule.  While both are directed against the one percenters, the objectives are different.  The assault on the capitol was an attack on the process.  The election took place and one group of rich people lost to another group of rich people.  The president, who is a member of this class,  tried to uae a bunch of goons to subvert the process of one group of rich people peacefully transfering power to anotther.  While he was stopped, his class did not opppse his efforts .   The attack fatally damaged the democratic system charade and is going to lead to more efforts to subvert the system.  The last best hope for humanity has passed as the hope that was the american dream was destroyed from within and on the outside.  The future will lead to more attempts to destroy the veneer of american democracy.  The facade is coming off the front of the store.  it is going to be a hell of a ride down, but until then we must ensure some sanity.  The BLM  movement is a black power/ injustice movement.  The most important item to realize is the centuries of racism and class warfare is not an equal to the riots or looting.  Imagine if the BLM protesters had assaulted the capitol... Force used against the protesters would be massive.  Thousands of protesters would be shot dead.  The simple fact is that if the roles were reversed, BLM protesters would be dead in massive numbers ,

See you justify the violence by one side and rail against the other side for the violence in their protest.  You can't see that they are the same albeit on different scales. 3 months of trying to burn a federal courthouse down and assaulting officers in Portland and not a peep from you. Protesting does not include violence and your failure to see that is clear. You condone the violence done by BLM and Antifa that is also clear.

And then there's the ideology that dismisses and contradicts US Intelligence and local law enforcement that the trouble makers were not BLM or Antifa but were in fact right wing white supremacists incognito.

It all comes down to one's ideology.  And that seems to be what you all are debating.

ME said it all better than I could have.

For me, the difference between the two situations is one of motive.  One set of people protesting 400 years of abuse and inequalities that so many here in the US refuse to acknowledge, let alone remedy.  I am a member of at least two "out" groups, so I get it.  I believe that those who do not understand, or want to understand, that is their privilege showing.   I also agree with Witchy that it was proven that the majority of the rioters in the BLM protests this summer were non-afilliated kids, gangs, people who were sick of the shutdowns and being unemployed, and last but not least, agents provocateur -- Proud Boys, Boogaloo Boos, etc., as Witchy mentioned, and I believe I indicated up-thread with some links.

As mentioned the Capitol Insurrection was motivated by people who refused to accept the results of a popularly-decided and officially certified election.  There were 62 (mostly frivolous) lawsuits challenging those results, and those results were upheld, frequently by Trump-appointed judges.  The second group used the system repeatedly (and at what expense, pedant?) not because they didn't receive justice, but because they didn't receive their preferred result.  Huge difference!

If one is hung up on expense of BLM protests, one must ask oneself, what would it cost to simply treat everyone with equality?  It certainly would be alot easier, wouldn't it?  Who's the hypocrite here?  And who's deflecting?

I am the DZ Queen, and I approve this message.

As you seem to be determined to twist everyone's words - not just mine, let me put that in context and as clearly as I can, AI.

There were many people at the BLM riots who were just there to cause trouble - and blame it on the BLM movement.  There was even one white supremacist present who seems to have gone there to shoot black people.  Those numbers are included in the statistics, even when black people were the victims, not the perpetrators.  Also, as pointed out before, being a HUGE movement, there were lots of opportunities for the incidental crimminal to capitalise on.  The actual protesters were there because they felt both treated unjustly and unheard.

The capitol insurrection was driven by a desire to overturn the democratically held and internationally verified election results.  The intent appears to have been to kill representatives of the people, at least for some of the insurrectionists.

It is NEVER that the numbers don't matter.  But it can be that the numbers fail to tell the whole story.

To change the focus a bit:  Idiots are everywhere...maybe this will be classified as a potential entry for the Darwin Awards.

A 20-year-old has been shot dead allegedly taking part in a "prank" robbery being filmed for YouTube.

Witnesses told police Timothy Wilks and a friend had approached a group of people outside a family trampoline park in Nashville, holding large knives.

Mr Wilks was then shot by a 23-year-old, who told police he had had no idea it had been a "prank" and had been acting in self-defence.

The park was so full that maintaining social distancing was impossible. Visitors were asked to leave an return at a quieter time. When the police eventually started clearing the park, officers were pelted with bottles. Two people were arrested. A bystander was hit with a bottle and taken to hospital. The park was empty by around 7:30 p.m.

DJ-In many Dutch parks nice weather and people playing music/entertainment created a "Kingsday" like atmosphere. A false sense of safety-with over 1 million vaccinations-and the illusion young people do hardly get ill-gives people room to ignore basic safety rules..

LOL  you have ignored the facts and information presented and made excuses for bad behavior this entire thread going as low as to sink to character assassination when proven wrong. Read back through and see how ridiculous your statements are when paired with the facts again. You can't defend your position so I'm "twisting your words" and the numbers are telling the story you just can't hear them through all your liberal self righteousness. But you'r defending against "propaganda" and then you defend it, remember how this started? LOL  Why are there so many idiots indeed.

When I look at all the reopening news, lifting of restrictions, "freedom" and the non-sense widespread media continuing their bad reporting it looks like "the idiots" did win...for now. The outcome will be the pandemic lasting longer. "The shore stopping the ship", learning the hard way...

History often is a pendulem swinning from left to right-and back again. Wisdom comes at a price...
