I could write about this for an hour,I'm fuming, but I'll keep it brief. I pulled aside one of my managers last Wednesday. I gave him some instructions on how to work through the Wu. I was very specific about locking his site office and only allowing contractors to call him on mobile. There were several contractors in his office which originally prompted the discussion. He was clear on the instructions and said he would sort it out. Note: we had already given this instruction several times via email... Also Its the only thing talked about on the news!!! The next day, one of the sales managers visited site. I had also given them the same chat the day before. Any way the sales manager walked into the construction office and its full of contractors. She went mental. She let the construction manager have it. She said are you fn stupid. Get these guys out of the office. Literally the contractors ran out the office. My sales manager is very placid... Lovely lady So... Today. I hear that one of these contractors was at a party eight days ago. (meant to be social distancing) One of the people at the party tests positive for Wuflu. This idiot contractor found out five days ago and didn't tell anyone about his exposure and keeps coming to work. He came to work all week. Seven days in total after the party. Today he mentions to staff that his throat is sore and he's been exposed to a positive case... This is one of the guys hanging around in the construction office. So i've been exposed. My sales manager. Construction manager. and about fifty contractors. How friggen dumb dumb do you have to be? PS: I can't sack my construction manager... complicated long story. I needed to vent.... fuming. So please tell me about your Wuidiot story. I need a laugh. |

How about sacking the contractor / never re hiring him for another job. That amounts to reckless endangerment! |

It might not be considered reckless endangerment if you are not aware of the risks. Maybe the contractor thought he wasn't exposed. I don't know the full story. I haven't been in contact with the contractor. I'm hesitant to punish someone who willingly comes forward when they knew there was something wrong. Imagine if he said nothing and just went home sick... At least now we know and can take action. The site is shut for two days. The contractor was tested this afternoon. The contractor is sixty five so he's really put his own life at risk. Its just stupid. I'm more pissed with the construction manager.... He was told repeatedly. Its his responsibility to work with the contractors. To ignore a direct instruction like this is a sack-able offense. Normally he would be gone. I can't sack him ( suppose i can say it here because know one knows who i am) The reason why i cant sack him is because we are in negotiations to sell this arm of the business. A staff sackings could raise alarm bells with buyer. We are trying to roll through this as its close to a deal. |

My life has been consumed by this bloody virus. The bull$hit i've had to go through you would not believe. A company sale that has taken four years. The company buying us spent six million doing due diligence. There are several sales in the deal and a settlement on the 30th April... The Wuflu couldn't be worse timing if it tried.. |

Feel bad for you, if only the manager would have followed the instructions. |

Chapter two of Wuidiots So you read the story above of the guy who went to a party found out his mate had corona, didnt tell anyone and then fell sick himself. All lies So apparently this contractor had a sore throat and was sure he had Corona. He tried to get tested but the doctors told him he had a cold and to go home. He came into work the next day and said to the site manager he had been exposed to corona and was now feeling sick. This was all a scam so he could get tested. There was no mate with Corona it was all fabricated. The end result of this is he's not working for us anymore. Our construction yard was closed only for four hours. However, Contractors organised other work else where, so the yard was empty all week. Wuidiot!! |

Oddly, he did you a favour by the back door. He did draw attention to the contractors congregating in the office, which I hope has now stopped. This however, was an accident. I'm glad he does not work for you anymore. |
