Well we've just been informed today that our first case of Zika has turned up in Waikato, with a possible 8 others, all recently from the South Pacific. There is also a case in Tonga.

NZ has 15 different species of mosquito so who knows if one of them will be a carrier. There are certainly loads of mosquitoes in NZ, there are plenty where I live and I'm inland and in the South Island. When we lived in Auckland the mosquitoes were huge.
Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.
